Many of my servant leadership and professional experiences have doubled as experiences with diversity. Some of the experiences that have impacted my life and my perspective in the most profound way have occurred in serendipitous ways.
AVID
During the 2016-2017 school year I was an AVID tutor at Century High School in both sophomore and a freshman classes. Within this experience, I interacted with students from various family, economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
Missions Trips
With a group from my church, I have traveled to inner city Los Angeles, Chicago, and Madrid, Spain for mission purposes. During these experiences, I have interacted with people all genders, ages 0-90, various cultural and ethnic associations, and religious backgrounds.
Fort Abraham Lincoln
Currently, I am collaborating with a team from a few of my courses to plan and teach during a field trip experience for students from a Bismarck school at Fort Abraham Lincoln. Through this project, I have developed a deeper appreciation for the culture and heritage of Native Americans.
Cannon Ball Ministry
I, along with a group from my church, have travelled to Cannon Ball, North Dakota to conduct a children's ministry. As a part of this ministry, we ran games and activities for the kids, shared Bible stories, and prepared a meal for them. This experience, and my involvement with Native American children and their families, has given me insight into their unique cultural triumphs and struggles.
